Cultural life in Conil


There’s more to Conil than just surf contests and other sportive events. Culture is a big issue here.

Flamenco concerts are nothing rare here; neither is live Jazz or any other type of music. Even a great Reggae festival is being held every July in the bull fighting arena. In the theatre of Alameda, which also serves as the cinema in Conil, stage performances are being held frequently.

Of course most of the cultural highlights take place in high season. In summer there’s live music almost every day at the Tanakas Plaza, right in front of the club Tanakas.

The top act of cultural activities in Conil is the Feria in the first week of September. This week is basically a week of holidays in Conil, because everybody parties all night long until the early morning and most of the shops stay closed in this week. The virgin of light, the patron saint of Conil, is getting carried through the streets being followed by more than 200 horses in traditional outfits.
